relate. Have they always been one? Which came first? How does one enhance the other? Was there every a point when you felt it was hard to merge the two? Where does your inspiration come from?

I love to study neurology as it pertains to creativity and spirituality, it is a hobby. I can't wait to hear your responses.

Dear Bridgette,

My journey of creativity and spirituality are inextricably intertwined. Over four years ago, as an agnostic, I began began having biblical images appear in paintings which were intended to be totally nonrepresentational. Other powerful visionary experiences of the presence and action of the Holy Spirit accompanied this phenomena. God has been teaching me through these paintings, and I have only finished three, although I have many that are unfinished. I cannot finish them according to my own timeline, but only in accordance with dedicated seeking of God's presence through his word and purity of connection to the Holy Spirit. It seems that through art God is reaching out to me and shaping and refining my relationship to him. It is only through my progress toward connection to the Holy Spirit that I am able to make progress in my art. I have tried to share my experience with a very few other Christians, and I have generally gotten a spirit of disbelief or resentment when I do. It seems to be an ego issue for them. Ironically, it is only by losing my own ego that I am able to connect more fully to the Spirit of the Lord. Perhaps from a neurological point of view this sounds pathological. However, I have two degrees in psychology and was working on my PhD when I finished my masters, so I am not naive about neurological psychology or other phenomena that could be at work in this process. I hope someday to find a way to share the power of the Lord's presence in this experience of the Holy Spirit as Teacher and Artist. Thank you for your interest. Janis
